Title: Funky Physics
System: Wii U (eShop)
Price: $1.99
Release date: 9/10/2015

The main game/story

In this game, your goal is to eliminate the green blocks in any way possible. There's no story, and that's pretty much it in terms of what you're supposed to do. For a puzzle game, its as barebones as you could possibly make it.

Graphics

Very simplistic block designs and a very simple purple background are what you will be looking at for the entirety of the game, I'm afraid. They don't look bad, of course, but they don't have an eye-catching appeal to them, either. Very basic visual presentation here.

Music and Sound:

Continuing the trend of simplicity, Funky Physics has a pretty mediocre soundtrack, with very forgettable melodies and basic sound effects. This is one of those games where muting the sound does has zero impact on the enjoyment of the game due to how lackluster it is. It's not bad to the point you'll be happy to hear it muted, but it's not memorable or even good. Like the visuals, it's as basic as you can get.

Gameplay

As mentioned earlier, Funky Physics is a very basic puzzle game with a simple concept, and that is to get rid of all of the green colored blocks from the screen in each stage. Sometimes you'll have to time breaking the blocks apart well in order to push them off of the stage, or other times you'll have to drop other blocks on top of it to push it off the stage. Depending on the size of the block, you may be able to split them into multiple, smaller blocks, which can be used in order to eliminate all the green ones from the stage.

And that, my friends is pretty much Funky Physics in a nutshell. It's a very basic puzzle game, sharing some similarities in concept with fellow physics game Blok Drop U, but with a focus on reducing the amount of moves in order to get the best ranking. The three square ranking system does help add a little bit of deployability to the game, but with stages so basic to begin with it's unlikely you'll even care enough to go back to older stages, or have any issues getting a perfect rank on every stage to begin with. There's just over 30 stages or so in this game, and if you have any experience in the genre whatsoever, you'll likely beat the entire game on your first sitting, even if you don't necessarily get the best rank on every stage.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Funky Physics is pretty much your average physics based puzzle game, with little innovation or anything that makes it worth picking up compared to all the other games out there, or even the online flash games of the same type. It works, and it's still a game that you can enjoy if you are a huge fan of these sorts of games, but with nothing new or different to bring to the table, I strongly recommend skipping this game, since if you played one, you've basically played Funky Physics already. That being said, if the three square ranking system interests you, then I recommend waiting for a sale, as this really is as basic of a puzzle game as you can get. I give Funky Physics a 4 out of 10.
